Preston fielded several first team members to give them a midweek run out in preperation for Saturday's home match with QPR. This had little effect as Preston succombed to Bury's second string.

Chris Sedgwick gave Preston the lead only for the visitors to score three goals in the final twenty five minutes signalling the end of Billy Barr's first match in charge.
