Across The Pond
Toronto FC/Danny Dichio
Still minus Danny Dichio, Toronto FC failed to qualify for the CONCACAF Champions League after only managing a 1-1 draw with Montreal Impact. The reds are evidently missing their target man and need him back sooner rather than later in order for them to get their season back on track. With the former Preston man sidelined, this may be the reason that the Canadian outfit are playing hardball as far as Brian McBride is concerned although a deal does appear to have been struck.
Even though Toronto weren't in action themselves, BMO field did witness a thrilling game in the form of the MLS All stars take on West Ham United.
LA Galaxy/David Beckham
David Beckham of the LA Galaxy was named in the MLS All Star starting XI and was credited with half an assist for Christian Gomez' goal. The game finished 3-2 to the MLS with West Ham taking the lead through former Crewe and Norwich striker, Dean Ashton. The aforementioned Gomez goal gave the MLS an equaliser before taking the lead through Cuauhtemoc Blanco just before half time. Dean Ashton scored his second to equalise but just two minutes later, Dwayne De Rosario converted from the penalty spot to give the MLS the win in a game that was marred by supporter violence.
Up next for Toronto is a trip to Salt Lake City on Monday whilst the Galaxy will take on FC Dallas later on tonight.
Other MLS/Ex-Preston News
There does seem to be some news on the Brian McBride situation as a deal looks to have been struck between Chicago Fire and Toronto. It seems as though former first round draft pick from 2005, Chad Barrett will heading north to Canada with McBride heading for Chicago. There will be More on this as it happens.
