Across The Pond
Danny Dichio/Toronto FC
Starting with Toronto, Danny Dichio returned to action as he came on as a late substitute to replace Chad Barrett, in Toronto's 1-0 win over Colorado Rapids. The fact that Toronto returned to winning ways after going 11 games without a win was merely coincidental as it was Chad Barrett, the man that Dichio replaced, who got the goal from a free kick after 44 minutes. However Toronto will be relieved to see their main man back in the team. Barrett joined Toronto recently as part of the deal that saw Brian McBride go to Chicago Fire.
A trip to the big apple is next on the agenda for Toronto who will full of confidence having seen off Colorado and welcoming Danny Dichio back in to contention.
David Beckham/LA Galaxy
As for David Beckham and the LA Galaxy, they took a break from their MLS fixtures and instead prepare themselves for a trip to Chivas USA on Thursday.
Brian McBride/Chicago Fire/USA
Brian McBride is still to get his first game underway for his new club Chicago Fire as he is currently out in Beijing playing for the USA Olympic soccer team after recently coming out of international retirement in order to do so.
The USA have got off to a good start having beaten the Japanese 1-0 on Thursday 7th August and then drew 2-2 with their Dutch counterparts on Sunday. McBride captained the USA side in both games.
Whilst wanting to see the USA team and McBride doing well in the Olympics, it wouldn't be unreasonable for the Chicago Fire officials for them to want McBride back as soon as possible, especially after they waited nearly three months to sign him.
Whilst McBride was away in Beijing, Fire extended their unbeaten run to six games having beaten the New England Revolution on Saturday. Taylor Twellman, who of course has expressed his desire to join the Lilywhites, got himself on the score sheet having recently made his return from injury.
