Across The Pond
Toronto FC/Danny Dichio
Dichio, who was hoping to force his way back into the Toronto starting eleven was an unused substitute for the Reds as they recorded a 1-1 draw with the New England Revolution. Taylor Twellman who of course has been widely linked with a move to Deepdale, put the Revs ahead with a wonderfully directed header into the left hand top corner. Twellman looked lively through the game and could have easily added to his 35th minute header.
Chad Barrett equalised for Toronto after 65 minutes with a spectacular strike from 18 yards after a tantalising ball in from the former Spurs and Arsenal midfielder, Rohan Ricketts. Barrett met the ball on the edge of the area where he delicately controlled the ball, turned, and hit a venomous half volley into the top left hand corner. If Barrett continues to play like this then Dichio is going to find it difficult to force his way back into the Toronto side, that's for sure.
The draw for Toronto at BMO Field now means that its just 2 wins in 14 matches for the Canadian outfit who have a difficult trip to Chivas on Saturday.
LA Galaxy/David Beckham & Eddie Lewis/Chicago Fire/Brian McBride
In this next fixture there would have been no fewer than three former Preston players involved but with David Beckham on international duty with England and Eddie Lewis not deemed fit enough for contention, it was just former Everton and Fulham striker Brian McBride that was involved. Brian McBride was credited with an assist for John Thorrington's goal, which proved to be the only goal of the game as Chicago Fire saw off the LA Galaxy 1-0 at the Home Depot Centre.
Up next for the Galaxy is a trip to New England to take on the Revs and Taylor Twellman whereas Chicago Fire have a trip to Texas to take on Houston Dynamo.
