Across the Pond
We have two week's worth of action to report on in the MLS involving the former Lilywhites across the pond. We shall begin with David Beckham and Eddie Lewis at the LA Galaxy who are still without a win since July.
David Beckham & Eddie Lewis/LA Galaxy
Following on from their 2-2 draw with New England, Galaxy recorded an identical score line against Real Salt Lake on Saturday 9th September. LA took the lead early on but after falling behind in the second half they were lucky to get a draw when Edson Buddle equalised late on. Neither David Beckham nor Eddie Lewis were involved in this match, though.
With the aforementioned players not featuring against RSL, Galaxy were hoping that the introduction of them for the game with Kansas City would spark a turnaround in form. However this was not to be the case as LA fell to a 2-0 defeat in Kansas. Galaxy find themselves bottom of the Western standings and will have their work cut out for them if they are to salvage anything this season.
Danny Dichio/Toronto FC
It has not been a happy time for Danny Dichio and Toronto FC either as they have failed to win in their last two matches. Firstly, despite going ahead, Toronto were beaten by Chivas USA 3-1 with Danny Dichio in from the start alongside Chad Barrett upfront.
Dichio was dropped to the bench for Toronto's next game against Columbus Crew but did make a second half substitute appearance when he came on to replace Barrett on 62 minutes. Toronto managed to get themselves a point thanks to a goal from the former Sunderland midfielder, Carl Robinson. The match finished 1-1 with Toronto desperately unlucky not to take all three points.
Brian McBride/Chicago Fire
McBride was in the starting eleven for Fire's win 1-0 over New York Red Bulls on Saturday 6th September as well as the 2-0 defeat to Colorado Rapids.
