A quick update from the MLS as the first of the play-off fixtures were played on Thursday. As we know, the only former Preston player to feature in the post season games was Brian McBride as he leads out the Chicago Fire in his first season back in Major League Soccer.
Fire's first game was a 0-0 draw away at New England Revolution where McBride played the full ninety minutes. Despite being in from the start, the former Everton and Fulham man was not able to pose any sort of attacking threat as the Fire drew a blank.
The second leg is set for this coming Thursday where The Revs visit Toyota Park ahead of a tense encounter with the Eastern Conference semi-final delicately poised.
