Bees spinning in the Webb

David Webb got involved in refereeing when he took a refereeing course after seeing an advertisement in a football programme and via talking to referees when he was playing local football.

He was promoted to the National List of Referees at the start of the 2008/09 season and took charge of his first football league match on 9 August 2008 as Bury beat Bradford 1-0. His first Championship match was at Deepdale with a 2-0 victory of Darren Ferguson’s Peterborough.

A trip to the United States to officiate in the Dallas Cup, which involved Manchester City and other age-group teams from Italy, Canada, Mexico and Uruguay, furthered his education

Although this will be his 23rd game of the season it will only be his third Championship match on the season. But it will be his second Brentford match of the season, the last being a 1-0 defeat at Burnley on 22 August 2015.

His last match was a 2-1 home win for Mansfield over Stevenage on 9 January 2016.
