The Rushton family has refereeing in their blood. Jim Rushton was a football league referee from 1987 to1996, now his son Steve has taken over the mantle.
Steve Rushton was promoted to the National List for the start of the 2009/10 season after refereeing in the Blue Square Premier.
His first league match was a 1-0 win for Chesterfield at home to Northampton on 15 August 2009.
His first Championship match was the Lilywhites defeat to Swansea in 20010/11 season.
His last Carlisle match was a 3-2 win at Rochdale on 23 April 2011. His last match was a 3-0 defeat for Morecambe at Swindon on 17 December.
