Andy Hall started refereeing in 1987 at the age of 18 years of age, encouraged by his father who had been a Football League Linesman. He reached the National List of Assistant Referees in 1993 and the Referees’ list in the1997/98 season.
His first league match was a 2-0 win for Chester at home to Lincoln on 9 August 1987, producing five yellow cards. Major appointments include 4th Official on the 2006 Carling Cup Final, and referee for two Football League – League Two Play Off Semi Finals in 2002 and 2006.
His last match was a 1-0 home victory for Wycombe over Millwall on 20 February. This match saw former PNE player Gareth Ainsworth sent off for Wycombe just six minutes after coming on as a substitute in the 71st minute.
His last Cardiff match was a 1-0 home defeat to Newcastle on 13 September 2009, when the Magpies Alan Smith was red carded in the 90th minute.
