Nigel Miller began as a referee in 1989 and appointed to the National list of assistant referees in 1996. He spent some time on the Select Group list and was one of the assistants in the 2003 FA Cup Final when Arsenal beat Southampton.
He was promoted to National List referee in 2003 with his debut being a 2-2 draw between Huddersfield and Cambridge on 9 August 2003.
His last match was the 3-3 Nottingham derby draw in the Carling Cup which saw Forest win 4-3 on penalties on 9 August.
His last Exeter match was a 1-0 victory at Huddersfield on 20 November 2010.

His assistants are Matthew Bristow from Manchester and Robert Jones from Merseyside, the fourth official is Richard Clark from Northumberland who was an assistant at Elland Road last season.
