Mad for it

Born in 1983, Andy Madley is in his fourth season as a Football League referee and made his debut in Barnet’s 1-0 win at Morecambe on 6 August 2011. He is the older brother of fellow Football League referee Bobby Madley (born 1985) who took charge of the 4-1 win over Swindon on 2 September 2012

His first League One match was PNE’s match at Leyton Orient which the home side won 2-1.

Last season the match between Port Vale and Preston saw the referee produced the most cards in one match with eight yellow and one red as Joe Garner scored twice in Preston’s 2-0 victory after a case of mistaken identity saw him escape a red card.

Garner struck Vale's Anthony Griffith in the 13th minute but referee Andy Madley sent off Neil Kilkenny instead.

Kilkenny had to be persuaded to leave the pitch as Preston boss Simon Grayson remonstrated with Mr Madley.

His last Scunthorpe match was a 2-0 win at Oxford on 29 December 2013.

His last match was the first game in the 2014/15 Football League campaign as Blackburn and Cardiff drew 1-1 in the televised game.
