Born in March 1963, Scott Mathieson has been a National list match official since 1990, spending four seasons on the line before being promoted to the referees list in 1994. His early careers in refereeing were spent in and around his native Stockport and on the Cheshire League. In 2001 he officiated on the finals of The FA Vase and Football League Cup which saw Liverpool beat Birmingham on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

His last Scunthore was 1 1-1 home draw against Cardiff on 16 January 2010. His last match was in the Football League Trophy on 5 October with a 3-2 win for Huddersfield against Peterborough

His assistants will be Paul Cleveland and Seb Stockbridge from Tyne & Wear. The fourth official is Andrew Hutchinson from Cheshire.
