Jon Moss started refereeing in 1988, in local and Supply Leagues He was promoted to the National List of assistant referees in 2003 and to the National List of Referees in 2005, has refereed a Conference Play Off Final between Carlisle and Stevenage in 2005 and an England U-19 friendly game.
His first league match was a 1-0 win for Rochdale at Shrewsbury on 6 August 2005, later that season the first Championship game Jon Moss officiated was at Deepdale.
His last game was on 25 January with a 1-0 win for Leyton Orient at Charlton. Whilst his last Ipswich match was a 2-2 draw at home to Swansea on 18 October 2008 when Counago scored a brace.
