Andy Penn qualified as a referee in 1986 and progressed through youth football and the West Midlands leagues before being promoted to the Football League as an assistant referee in 1996.
He was promoted to the national list of referees in 2002 and his league debut as a referee came on 18 August 2002 in a 2-2 draw between Swansea and Rushden in League Two, which saw four bookings and each side reduced to ten men.
So far this season he has refereed 24 matches, producing 49 yellow and 3 red cards, his last game was on Saturday between Charlton and Watford, which saw 5 goals and no bookings.
His assistants on Tuesday will be Martin Coy of County Durham and Ian Nolan of Lancashire, whilst the fourth official is Darren Bond who is also from Lancashire.
