Chris Sarginson finished playing Sunday League football through injury and became a club secretary then a referee. Although he didn’t have any intention of entering the professional game he always applied for promotion.
In 2005 he was appointed as a Select Group Assistant Referees and as an Assistant Referee in an FA Challenge Vase Final, the Football League Division Two Play-Off Final and a UEFA Cup Tie.
He was appointed as a referee to the National League for the 2008/09 season and took charge of his first match on 16 August 2008 as Morecambe lost 3-1 at home to Rotherham.
His previous match was a 2-0 victory for West Ham at Peterborough on 27 March 2012. His last MK Dons was a 3-1 win at Colchester on 12 March 2011.
