Player Profile - Terry Fleming

Terence Maurice Fleming was born in Marston Green, Birmingham on 5 January 1973. He made two substitute appearances for Coventry in the 1990/91 season.

It wasn't until the 1992/93 season when Fleming made his first eleven debut as right back in the 2-1 home victory against Middlesbrough on 15 August 1992. He made a total of 11 appearances during the season. His last game for Coventry and in the Premier League was a 2-1 defeat at Chelsea on 1 May 1993.

Fleming joined Northampton in August 1993 and stayed for one season making 31 appearances and scoring one goal from the penalty spot.

Fleming signed for John Beck's Preston on 18 July 1994 and made his debut as left back in a goal less draw at Darlington on 13 August 1994. Fleming made 27 league appearances during the season at left back and midfield. He scored two goals, both during September in the matches at Gillingham and Doncaster.

Fleming played in the first five matches of the season but the 3-3 draw at home to Cambridge on 2 September was to be his 32nd and last game for PNE.

In December 1995 he was one of four players who joined his former boss John Beck at Lincoln for a fee of £20,000 and stayed for 4½ years.

The 1996/97 season saw him receive a red card in the 2-1 FA Cup defeat at Burnley and made 40 appearances in the promotion season of 1997/98 as Lincoln finish third in the Third Division.

He made his 100th league appearance for the Imps on the opening day of the 1998/99 season in the defeat at Bournemouth. Fleming was appointed captain and made 43 appearances during the season but could not help Lincoln avoid relegation.

The 1999/2000 season saw Fleming score five league goals with four coming from the penalty spot. His was unable to agree new terms and made his last appearance in a 2-0 defeat at Darlington on 6 May 2000 and had scored 8 goals in 183 league appearances for the club.

Whilst at Lincoln, Fleming once avoided a second yellow card by giving the referee the name of a teammate instead of his own, succeeding only in greatly lengthening the suspension that finally ensued when the FA caught up with him.

On 4 July 2000 Fleming joined Plymouth and made his debut in a 1-0 home defeat to Leyton Orient on 12 August 2000. In January 2001 he was sent off in the match at Mansfield. His stay at Plymouth only lasted 8 months and made his 17th and last appearance for Plymouth in a 1-1 draw at Carlisle on 17 February 2001.

Fleming joined up with Beck again at Cambridge in March 2001 and stayed for over three seasons. He scored on his debut in the 3-2 home defeat to Wrexham.

Fleming suffered relegation in 2001/02 as Cambridge finish bottom of League Two. His 100th league appearance for Cambridge came in the 2-0 win at Swansea on 21 October 2003. His 105th and last appearance came in a 4-1 defeat at home to Leyton Orient, Fleming had scored 4 goals for the club.

In July 2004 Fleming joined Grimsby and made 43 appearances and scored twice for the club during 2004/05 season but he did not earn a new deal.

In July 2005 he joined Kidderminster who had just been relegated from League Two at the end of the 2004/05 season. During the 2005/06 season he scored twice in 38 appearances for the club before being released by the club at the end of .

Fleming joined Moor Green for the 2006/07 season before joining Unibond Division One South side Grantham during the 2007/08 season. He helped them to reach the play-off's during that season and was made captain for the 2008/09 season.
