Forming a partnership with Alex Bruce, who scored 21 goals, as the Lilywhites finished 7th in Division Two. Robinson scored 5 goals in 4 matches early in the season and scored a brace on three occasions during the season.
His goalscoring exploits led to a posse of scouts attending matches and an offer of £756,000 in June 1979 by Malcolm Allison of

The 1981/82 season was more successful helped by signing of Jimmy Case in the summer of 1981 helping the Seagulls to mid-table. Robinson made 35 league appearances scoring 11 times and 2 behind top scorer Andy Ritchie.

Although Robinson finished top goalscorer again with 7 goals, the season ended in disappointment finishing bottom and relegation to Division Two.
