He did not make an appearance at West Brom and following the departure of Bobby Gould at West Brom, he joined him again in July 1992 at Coventry as cover for Steve Ogrizovic.
He made his debut in the 5-1 defeat of Liverpool on 19 December 1992 and made a total of 9 appearances in the 1992/93 season. The following season Gould made a further 9 appearances and in the 1994/95 season Gould made 7 appearances.
After 25 matches he was given a free transfer by the Sky Blues and joined Bradford in March 1996 making 9 appearances. Gould had a spell at Gillingham on loan in October 1996; his debut was in a 2-0 defeat at Plymouth on 29 October but did not finish on the winning side on his three appearances for the Gils'.
In the summer of 1997 Gould joined Glasgow Celtic and made is debut in the League Cup as they beat Berwick Rangers away 7-0 on 9 August. He also won the League Cup three times in 1997/98, 1999/2000 and 2000/01 and received an FA Cup runners-up medal in 1998/99 in the defeat against Rangers.

However, with the arrival of Martin O'Neill, he lost his place in the Celtic first team and left Scotland to join Preston on a free transfer in January 2003 after making 110 appearances for Celtic.
