Player Profile – Nathan Peel
Nathan James Peel was born in Blackburn on 17 May 1972, although supporting Burnley Peel joined Preston and made his debut on the opening day of the 1990/91 season as a sub for Steve Harper on 25 August in a 3-1 home defeat to Grimsby. He made 10 appearances for Preston and scored in his only game in the first eleven as PNE drew 3-3 at Reading on 1 September. His final game was on 7 May in a 2-1 defeat at Tranmere.
On 1 August 1991 Peel joined Premier League Sheffield United for £50,000 but just made one sub appearance in two years with a 1-0 win at Tottenham on 23 November 1991. In August 1992 Peel joined Halifax on loan, making three appearances.
On 24 September 1993 Peel joined the club he supported for a fee of £60,000 and made his debut in a 2-0 win against Hartlepool on 2 October 1993. He made 13 appearances during the season with 9 of these as a sub. A week later he scored his only goals, a brace as a sub in a space of four minutes against Peter Shilton of Plymouth with the Clarets winning 4-2.
Pell had spells on loan, joining Rotherham in March 1993, netting 4 goals in 9 appearances. The following season Peel joined Mansfield in October 1995 and Doncaster in February 1996, making 2 appearances for both clubs.
His last game for Burnley came in the 1994/95 season as Burnley lost 4-0 at Derby on 5 March 1995, Peel had made 16 appearances.
In January 1997 Peel joined Macclesfield in a 2-1 home win over Darlington on 5 September. Peel then scored in his next two appearances and made a total of 3 goals from 14 appearances. His last appearance for Macclesfield came in the return fixture with Darlington with Darlo winning 4-2 on Boxing Day 1997.
Peel then moved to the non-league with Winsford United, Stevenage (on loan), Northwich Victoria, Barrow (twice), Drolysden and Clitheroe.
