Player Profile Mike Lynne
Michael George Anthony Lynne was born in Kettering on 20 March 1938. Having come through the Juniors with Preston he signed professional forms in March 1956 as the understudy to goalkeeper Fred Else.
He made his Preston debut at Deepdale in the FA Cup Third Round replay against Derby with the Lilywhites winning 4-2 after extra time on 19 January 1959 and played five days later in the 3-2 win over Bradford City in the Fourth Round. Lynne only made two league appearances, both of them heavy defeats, the first a 4-2 defeat at home to West Brom on 31 January and then a week later with a 5-1 defeat at Birmingham.
His final appearance was a 2-2 draw at Bolton in the FA Cup Fifth Round on 14 February, Else returned to the side after that match.
In June 1959 Lynne joined Third Division Bournemouth, he made 17 appearances during the season as the Cherries finished tenth. He parted company with Bournemouth at the end of the season.
