Player Profile Jason Harris

Jason Andre Sebastian Harris was born in Sutton on 24 November 1976. He started as a trainee with Crystal Palace but could not break into their first team. Harris had a loan spell with Dover in February 1995 and finally made two substitute appearances for Palace in the 1996/97 season. Remarkably both matches finished in 6-1 victories. The first was on 21 September at Reading and the second, a week later at home to Southend.

In November 1996 Harris joined League One side Bristol Rovers on a month's loan and scored on his debut in a 2-1 defeat at Luton on 23 November. Harris made a total of 6 appearances, scoring 2 goals but was only on the winning side once. His last appearance was in a 1-0 defeat at Bournemouth on Boxing Day.

After a substitute appearance for Lincoln in the home defeat to Mansfield , Harris signed for League Two side Leyton Orient for £25,000 in September 1997. His debut was in a 1-1 draw at Swansea on 27 September. His first goal was in the following month in a 1-1 draw at Torquay.

He made two appearances for Rovers in 1988/89 before he transferred to Preston in August 1998. His last appearance was in a 4-1 home defeat on 15 August, he had scored 9 goals from 50 appearances.

After his debut for PNE as a substitute in a 4-3 win at Lincoln on 29 August, he scored in his next two matches also from the bench in a 2-0 home win against Chesterfield and a 2-2 draw against his previous club. It was only on 12 October did he start a match in a 1-0 win at Manchester City. Later in the month Harris was red carded in the match against Northampton.

Harris made 25 of his 34 league appearances for Preston from the substitute bench during the 1998/99 season which was a record for a PNE player in one season. He scored 6 goals, the last of these was an injury time winner as Luton were beaten 2-1 on 16 January 1999.

Harris made his last appearance for Preston was in the second leg play off semi final defeat to Gillingham.

Although he still had a year on his Preston contract Harris joined League Two side Hull, who was managed by ex-North Ender Warren Joyce, for a fee of £40,000 on 12 July and made his debut on 7 August in a 1-0 defeat to Exeter.

Harris scored four goals in his Hull career, both of these braces. The first was a 2-0 home win against Brighton on 5 February 2000. The second was in a 4-0 win at Carlisle on 1 April 2000.

Harris made 10 league appearances for Hull during 2000/01; the last of these was on 10 March 2001 in a 3-0 defeat at Brighton. He had made 38 appearances, half of these as a substitute.

Harris joined Shrewsbury on loan until the end of the season. His debut was as a sub on 17 March in a 1-1 home draw against Leyton Orient. His only start was in his next game against Kidderminster but was substituted after 65 minutes. His last appearance was in a 3-0 defeat at Darlington.

Harris joined Southend on a free transfer in July 2001 but only made 5 appearances. The first was a 3-2 home win against Carlisle and the last was a 2-1 defeat at York on 20 October.

Harris then joined non league Harrogate, but his first stay only lasted two months before he moved to Conference side Nuneaton on 15 February 2002.

His debut was a 4-2 defeat at Stalybridge the following day. His first goal was in his third match when he equalised against Farnborough in the 89 th minute. Harris scored two goals in 6 minutes in March at Forest Green to win 2-1.

His last appearance for Nuneaton was on 28 September 2002 in a 3-1 defeat at Halifax. He has scored 6 goals from 23 league appearances.

In October 2002 Harris returned for a second spell at Harrogate Town . In 2002/03, Harrogate finish sixth in their first season in the Unibond League Premier Division and reached The FA Cup First Round Proper for the first time in their history, losing 5-1 at Farnborough.
