Player Profile - Cecil Eastwood
Cecil Milner Eastwood was born in Tadcaster on 7 June 1894. Eastwood played in the left-half position and started his career with non-league Castleford Town.
In 1920/21 season Eastwood joined Third Division Plymouth and made 20 appearances during the season. The following season saw the formation of Third Divisions North and South. Plymouth finished in the runners-up position for the next six seasons, with Eastwood playing in half of them. Unfortunately for the Pilgrams only the champions were promoted to Division Two.
Eastwood played in the majority of the matches making 31 appearances in 1921/22 and 33 appearances in 1922/23. The 1923/24 season saw Eastwood score his first league goals with three from 24 appearances. He failed to make any appearances in 1924/25 and after 108 league appearances for Plymouth Eastwood joined Preston.
He made his debut on the opening day of the 1925/26 season as Preston lost 3-0 at Wolves on 29 August. Two days later he scored on his home debut as the Lilywhites won 3-2 against Portsmouth. He played in the majority of the matches at the start of the season at centre-half before losing his place when David Morris was signed from Raith in December. Eastwood scored twice from 20 appearances during the season and made his last appearance on 19 December in a 2-0 defeat at Barnsley.
Eastwood joined Third Division North side Stoke and made 39 appearances in 1926/27 as Stoke won the Divisional title. He only made 7 appearances in 1927/28 before joining Third Divisional North side Stockport but did not make a first team appearance.
