In his first full season for the club he again scored twice but from 29 matches. He made a total of 52 appearances before joining Zenit Saint Petersburg in January 2004. His only goal came in the 2005 season and made 46 appearances for the club.

Sumi joined Turkish side Bursapor in July 2006 netting 3 goals from 49 appearances and joined Ipswich on 28 January 2008 for £800,000.

Sumi made his debut for Macedonia in 2002 and played in both Euro 2008 qualifiers against England and has scored once in 71 international appearances for his country.

His debut for Ipswich was a 2-1 win at Sheffield Wednesday on 2 February 2008. Two weeks later he scored in the 50th minute to give Ipswich the lead over Blackpool, with the Tractor Boys winning 2-1. This was his only league goal for the club.

In April 2008 Sumulikoski was expected to have surgery on a torn artery in his shin which would have seen him out of action for around 3 months but after seeing a specialist he was told he won't need surgery and returned to the first team.

Sumi made 26 league appearances for Ipswich in 2008/09 and made his last appearance for Ipswich on 3 May 2009 in a 2-1 victory over Coventry.

Alan Irvine had tried to sign Sumi on loan in March 2009 but as PNE and Ipswich were both in touch with the play-offs Ipswich would not release.

Irvine would not give up and signed Sumi for a fee of £400,000 on 4 August 2009. He made his debut in a 2-2 draw at home to Bristol City on 8 August 2009. Opportunities were limited even with the club struggling and only made 15 league appearances in total. His last appearance was just after Irvine’s dismissal, in 7-0 win in the FA Cup at Home to Colchester on 2 January 2010.

He never played under Darren Ferguson and was released from his contract. After a trial with Leeds in May 2010 and Crystal Palace in July where he played in two trial matches, he joined Russain side FC Sibir Novosibirsk in August 2010 and was voted to become captain of Sibir by his teammates prior to the start of the 2011 season.

Tianjin Teda agreed a settlement to release Šumulikoski from the remainder of his contract in January 2013. Shumulikoski back in Czech Republic to sign for 1. FC Slovácko..
