At the end of November, Preston North End sit top of the second tier of English Football since promotion to the top flight with Sir Tom Finney in 1950/1 season when Preston ran away with the league.
Another month unbeaten and you would forgive me for thinking this was the most perfect month but it was far from it. Preston were almost gifted top spot thanks to a bad month from Cardiff and Burnley - even a slip up from Birmingham generously allowed North end to keep top spot.
Preston started the month well with another convincing homw win against Luton which followed by a hard fought nil nil away to bottom placed Southend. A plucky victory at Leicester meant Preston went into two home games looking upwards with a hope of escaping the chasing pack.
the home wins never materialised and the goals dried up as Preston were held to a goalless draw against Palace before conceding a late equaliser to Coventry. Preston may well rue these dropped points but still sit top of the pile.
Goals have dried up but the defence has certainly tightened. Agyemang and Sedgewick have been signalled out for below par performances by the fans but Nash has certainly earned Preston some points recently.
Preston now face a tough December with six games - four of them away from home which will test the metal of the side along with two very tough home games. No more additions can be made to the squad - Tommy Miller coming into the squad on loan in November before the deadline was the last signing until the window opens in January.
Simpson will be looking for his strikers to show the early season form as the season reaches its half way mark. Ormerod will be looking for a starting spot with Mellor looking to gain some fitness and Nowland hoping to get some reserve games under his belt. Simpson will hope that the squad can stay fit in one of the toughest periods of the season.
