Neil Mellor was set to be fit for the Sunderland game back in October but has yet to be seen but due to the striker shortage he may well get a place on the bench.
Tommy Miller has been allowed special dispensation to play against the club who currently employ him but may well only make the bench.
Preston will be checking on the fitness of Mckenna and Whaley who both took knocks in the Boxing Day clash at the Hawthorns.
The side may well have to change slightly in shape to accomodate for the injuries and suspension but Simpson will hope the bad run of away results can be halted to keep Preston in the automatic places with the chasing pack firmly on their heels.
