These matches are never the most skillful and the form of the two sides means a quality performance is unlikely from both sides. However, what this match lacks in skill will be made up for in passion and commitment.
Burnley enter the game on their worst run in many a year. A far cry from our meeting earlier in the season when both sides were in the top six. Burnley have been consistent since then - hardly seeing a victory and plumetting down the table hovering just above the relegation zone. Preston have been inconsistent but managed to pull together enough to be in with a shout of automatic promotion at the end of the season.
Preston's team almost pick's itself. Lonergan will start in goals and after Tuesday's victory the back four is likely to be unchanged. Hill and Alexander at full back with St Ledger partnering Chilvers in the middle.
Mckenna may well be back after a recent operation but probably only for a place on the bench. sedgewick and Davidson are likely to stay in midfield with Songo'o and Pugh out wide.
Nugent will look to cap off his international news with a goal against Burnley after he missed the match at Turf Moor through suspension. Ricketts scored his first during the week and should keep his place. Mellor, Dichio, Agyemang and Ormerod are all fighting for a place on the bench.
Preston will hope for a victory that could put pressure on the top teams ahead of the three o'clock kick offs. With time running down Preston have to make the most of their opportunities and there has never been a better chance to reach the promise land.
