Irvine has said that in a way it is fortunate that Charlton are his first match in charge as with little time to prepare he has seen them as a Premiership oufit over the past few seasons.
The new boss has pretty much a full squad to pick from except long term absentee keeper Henderson and it may well be too soon for Billy Jones to return after being ruled out of the recent under 21 games for England.
The selection for this first match is anyone's guess - pretty much the same as it was over the last few weeks of Paul Simpson's reign. He has six attackers to choose from as well as a variety of midfield and wide players.
More maybe revealed closer to the game as Irvine only took his first training session this morning. He has detailed that he is a hands on coach much like his mentor Moyes at Everton and will be working hard with the players and hopes to see some improvement to drag North End up the table.
