Irvine who has been in charge for seven days is still relying on his coaches for help in team selection. He is hopeful of being able to take complete control of selection in the forthcoming weeks.
Irvine is set to keep the same back four providing St Ledger passes a late fitness test. Hill will be pushing for a recall at left back with Chilvers ready to stand by in the centre.
The midfield is a more contentious issue with Carter, Mckenna and Nicholls all fighting for spots. There have been calls for Lewis Neal to be returned to the squad along with Whaley who has impressed recently on the right.
Up front will depend on whether Irvine wants to keep continuity or try something different.
All will be revealed later tonight as Preston travel to Palace searching for a first away win of the season.
