After booking their place in the FA Cup 2nd round with a comprehensive win over Yeovil at the weekend, attentions now turn back to the bread and butter of the league.
Tuesday's visit of Carlisle is only North End's second league match under the Deepdale lights this term, a scenario that has proved to be a fruitful one for the Lilywhites in the past having once boasted of an unbeaten record spanning back a number of years.
North End's past outing in the league under the flood lights was of course against Hartlepool were Graham Westley's men were rampant in a 5-0 mauling over their north east counterparts.
Much like North End, Carlisle visit Deepdale on the back of an FA Cup win of their own having displaced Ebbsfleet at Brunton Park.
However, United's recent league form has proved to be somewhat erratic having picked up just two wins in their last six, but on the other hand, can take solace in an impressive away return - just two defeats on the road all season.
A win for the Lilywhites could see a return to the top 6 whilst a win for Carlisle would mean a possible place in the top half.

Of course, North End have already faced their Cumbrian counterparts this campaign having displaced United in the first round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, albeit via the use of penalties.
Back in early September, Chris Beardsley netted his first goal for North End with just three minutes played only for Jon-Paul McGovern to equalise on 68.
The match went straight to penalties with David Buchanan netting the winner. (YouTube footage here).
Last season's meetings couldn't produce a winner in either games with the spoils shared courtesy of a 3-3 draw at Deepdale and a 0-0 draw at Brunton Park.
