The wrong of a dismal display, performance and result at Oldham can be put right by displacing Morecambe from the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on Tuesday.
For the second time in as many seasons, the Lilywhites travel to the Globe Arena to take on the Shrimpers in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
Interestingly, Tuesday's fixture is North End's 4th competitive outing against Morecambe - each time North End have had four different managers in charge.
North End's run of form as been inconsistent to say the least with three wins and three defeats in their last six whilst Morecambe have just one win from the same period.
Jim Bentley's side entertain North End on the back of a 0-0 draw at home to Burton Albion and a 2-0 win over Chesterfield this past week.
So, although the north Lancastrians have only picked up one win in six, they are unbeaten in their last two home games.
Their win over the Spirites is their only home win to date this term.

Almost exactly a year ago, Tuesday 4th October to be precise, North End drew 2-2 with the Shrimpers in the first round of the JPT, despite being 2-0 up heading to the last seven minutes.
Brian McLean and Juvhel Tsoumou had the Lilywhites ahead after 21 minutes and, with just seven minutes plus stoppage time remaining, those early goals looked to be enough to send Phil Brown's side into the next round.
However, goals from Phil Jevons and Kevin Elliison with an error from Morecambe-born Cypriot goalkeeper Andreas Arestidou handing the Shrimpers a lifeline.
North End went through on penalties, winning 7-6.
Prior to the aforementioned, there have only been two other competitive meetings between the two sides.
The first came during the 2007/2008 season when the Shrimpers were entertained at Deepdale in the League Cup 1st round.
North End, who were then a Championship side with Premier League ambitions, were out-done by their League Two counterparts in a 2-1 defeat.
The now manager Jim Bentley put the visitors ahead after just six minutes before Danny Pugh equalised for North End midway through the second period.
However, David Artell, with just six minutes remaining, netted the winner much to the delight of the travelling Morecambe faithful.
Two seasons later Preston got their own back with a 5-1 win in the same competition.
Chris Brown, Stephen Elliott, Barry Nicholson, Neal Trotman and Neil Mellor were on target for North End whilst Michael Twiss netted a 90th minute consolation goal for Morecambe at Deepdale.
