After a disappointing result at the weekend, everyone connected to the club will just want the next game to come as quickly as possible so to put the derby disappointment behind them and kick-start the season into life.

Such an occurrence comes in the shape of a visit from Nottingham Forest at Deepdale on Tuesday - not an easy task by any stretch of the imagination.

Much like North End, Billy Davies' Forest side have suffered a slow start to the campaign having picked up just a single point more than the Lilywhites thus far.

Previous Meetings

Forest's last visit to Deepdale turned out to be a vastly entertaining affair which saw North End romp to a 3-0 lead only to see the advantage slashed to just a single goal in the second half.

Ross Wallace put North End in front with a neat finish from an acute angle on 20 minutes before skipper Callum Davidson made it two from the penalty spot on 29.

A sensational strike from Matty James just 3 minutes later saw North End cruise into the half time interval with a three goal cushion.

However, less than 15 minutes after the restart, Dexter Blackstock converted a penalty of his own to give Forest a lifeline. Robert Earnshaw beat the offside trap to make it 3-2 on 76 minutes but as it turned out, that was all that Forest could muster.

Team News

Due to suspensions and injuries picked up from the Burnley game on Saturday, Darren Ferguson faces a selection headache ahead of the visit of Forest.

Billy Jones

Billy Jones will definitely be out due to the immediacy of his one match suspensions, David Gray is set to deputise. In midfield, Matty James is a doubt and will await the results of a scan before any decision is made on whether the Bacup born midfielder is fit enough to feature. Darel Russel is poised to step in in his place.

Paul Coutts pulled his hamstring during Saturday's defeat meaning that the Scot is also set to miss out.
Up front, Josh King is also set to miss out after the United youngster was forced off early in the first half at Turf Moor thanks to an atrocious yet unseen challenge from Danny Fox.
For the visitors, striker Robert Earnshaw is a doubt after the Wales striker limped out of Saturday's game with a hamstring injury.
Defender Chris Gunter is set to return after completing his three match suspension.
