Well, the players seem to have cut out the silly mistakes to an extent which has shown with some good defensive displays at home. The team have also become more attacking creating some opportunities but now it is the strikers turn.
Preston are by no means playing the best football under Simpson but the side are creating chances if only limited ones. The difference is that the strikers appear to lack confidence and if those chances keep going amiss then Preston could find themselves in an almighty struggle the other side of Christmas.
The strike partnership this weekend against Plymouth may well be intersting. Only Carroll played in the midweek reserve fixture meaning all five other strikers could appear. Hawley has started up front for the past few games with Agyemang starting on Tuesday as Gallagher was pushed out to the left. There will be a fitness test for Gallagher ahead of the game but Mellor and Ormerod are waiting for their opportunities.
As already stated the defence if by no means watertight is looking a lot sounder with Hill and Jones being solid whilst Mawene searches for his old form.
This game will be too soon for Mckenna one would imagine although with change staking place every game I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a start alongside Nicholls. Whaley will also be pushing for a starting place.
