Preston's performances appear to be improving since the dismal start to the season but an away victory still eludes the ever improving Lilywhites. There is a chance this Saturday at Barnsley where recently Oakwell has been a happy hunting ground.
Preston have only lost one game at Deepdale in the league this season but the away form is causing some alarm with the high points being a point at below par Sheff Utd and a last gasp equaliser at Cardiff.
Simpson has problems at the back with the suspension of Mawene. Chilvers and Jones are both injured but returned to training today with the latter more likely to make the match this Saturday. Loan signing Halls will almost certaintly make his debut alongside St Ledger with Hill at left back. Should Jones fail to make it the returning Davidson may well play unnaturally on the right.
The midfield may well stay the same after Mckenna played well on his return last weekend alongside Nicholls. With Pugh off to stoke, Carter is almost certain to be confirmed on the left with Sedgewick on the right.
After not appearing at all in the reserves in midweek Hawley and Ormerod are likely to start up front. Mellor is pressing for a place alongside Agyemang, Gallagher and Carroll.
