Chris Sarginson finished playing Sunday League football through injury and became a club secretary then a referee. Although he didn’t have any intention of entering the professional game he always applied for promotion.

In 2005 he was appointed as a Select Group Assistant Referees and as an Assistant Referee in an FA Challenge Vase Final, the Football League Division Two Play-Off Final and a UEFA Cup Tie.

He was appointed as a referee to the National League for the 2008/09 season and took charge of his first match on 16 August 2008 as Morecambe lost 3-1 at home to Rotherham.

His previous match was a 3-1 win for Carlisle at AFC Wimbledon on 17 January. His last Yeovil match was a 1-0 home victory over Blackpool on 3 December 2013 which saw Tangerines reduced to 8 men with 3 red cards in injury time including former PNE player Ricardo Fuller.
