Preston originally paid £200,000 as a down payment to Crewe which was how much North End valued Jones. The tribunal ordered Preston pay another £50,000 immediately with a further £250,000 in the New Year.
Should Jones play 60 games Preston will have had to fork out a further £250,000 and if Preston achieve promotion another £250,000 would be paid to Crewe making the total amount £1 million for a player who has yet to start at Preston. Crewe also have a 20% sell on clause.
