Craig Beattie was a target towards the end of last season but he appears to have slipped through the net and so it seems his attention has turned to Anichebe of Everton. The 20 year old only scored once in the league last season and would be allowed out on loan to potential suitors.
Irvine would like to be reunited with the Nigerian forward but wages are the main stumbling block which will prevent the forward heading to Deepdale.
