The young Aston Villa forward signed for Preston on loan until the end of the season. He has featured for Villa this season and it is hoped that he will get a decent run of games at Preston before the end of the season.
North End were looking to boost their attacking options. Riis is the leading scorer this season but at times has wasted opportunities and more recently has gone through a lull.
Evans has supported up front but clearly cannot play a significant number of games in a row. Lowe was therefore always looking for other players in attack.
Archer will be given opportunities and it is hoped that he can fire home for Preston who have been lacking when it comes to a repeated clinical finisher over the past few seasons.
