The game was both open and entertaining with Preston needing the three points in a desperate attempt to avoid the drop and Doncaster looking to halt a poor run of form to stop them getting embroiled in a relegation dogfight.
Despite the numerous amount of chances for both sides it was the 77th minute before the deadlock was broken thanks to a piledriver from former Preston man Brian Stock.
The lead lasted only three minutes as Paul Hayes, the forgotten man and former Scunthorpe player was accredited with the equaliser all Chris Brown, back after injury looked to have a big say in the goal.
Preston remain second bottom with five games remaining. Both Sheff Utd and Scunthorpe lost but due to Palace managing to reverse their away form and gain a point at Leicester, Preston remain seven points from safety.
