Charlton bid for Mears

It is believed that Charlton's new boss Iain Dowie has tabled a bid of £1.5m for the services of pacey full back Tyrone Mears. If the bid is accepted and Mears was to agree personal terms he would be the second defender to leave North End following the departure of star centre back Claude Davis. Clubs are bound to be showing an interest into Preston North End's defence as they proved to be the meanest defence in the league, conceding the least amount of goals.
