The Scunthorpe pitch is currently frozen over in areas and with temperatures unlikely to improve until after Christmas, officials have decided to get an early decision on whether the Boxing Day clash will take place.
A decision will be made on Christmas Eve to give fans an advanced warning over whether the game will take place or not. It is unlikely that the match will go ahead judging by present conditions.
