Cresswell to leave PNE?

Billy Davies looks set to admit that he expects Richard Cresswell to leave Deepdale before the transfer deadline at the end of August. Cresswell who has scored 48 league goals in 164 appearences since his move from Leicester in 2001 has recently been the subject of an offer from Sheffield United, ironically PNE's next opponents.

Billy stated that although the striker has signed an extension to his current contract it would be difficult to compete with the financial power that other clubs in the championship have and expects to lose him sooner rather than later.

It seems likely then that Cresswell will add to his total transfer value of 2,200,000 pounds in moves that have seen him at York City, Sheffield Wednesday and Leicester before arriving at Deepdale.

There is mixed feeling from fans to the news of his possible departure as his supporters point to the twenty-one goals scored last season while others rely on the three goal tally scored in an ever present 2003/04 season.

If the Yorkshire born player does leave it would be better all round for it to be completed as soon as possible leaving Billy the maximum time to bring in a replacement.
