Grayson made changes to his side with Lee Holmes starting int he whole behind Craig Davies and Joe Garner. Beavon's run int he team had come to an abrupt end whilst Gallagher was rested ont he bench. Prestonw ent with a 5-3-2 formation.
Chances were few and far between in the first half for both sides with the visitors just edging the play. North End were put under a bit of pressure in the second half but managed to tkae the lead.
A Jack King shot from the edge of the area took a deflection which seemed to slow the ball down. It appeared that the shot was going in and King celebrated later telling the media that he played despite learning that his nan had died earlier on Saturday morning.
The lead didn't last long as some sloppy defending by North End allowed Elliott to get a shot away on the edge of the box which also took a deflection and into the bottom corner.
The home side could have won the game late on when a shot was blazed over from close range. The point confirms Preston will ennter the end of season knock out with five games to spare.
The chances of a top two finish were all but extinguished with Brentford winning on Saturday and putting themselves eight points clear of Preston with a game in hand.
