It was always a game where Millwall were going to set up defensively and try to steal a goal on the break. The visitors proved hard to break down and given Preston's start to the season there maybe more teams who set up at Deepdale like Millwall.
Fisher returned to the side after injury whilst Welsh replaced Browne in the holding role in midfield. Both sides had limited chances with the keepers rarely being threatened.
Millwall did the usual game playing, time wasting early and standard substitutes all within the rules. The referee also took it upon himself to be the centre of attention but the main issue was that Preston were simply not able to get past Millwall.
Hugill failed to latch on to an erroneous back pass and when he did realise it was too late. Perhaps if he had anticipated earlier he might have intercepted the pass and had a free shot on goal but it was not to be.
The best chance in the game fell early in the second half when Harrop was free in the box but he failed to time his slide to connect with the ball correctly.
Preston go away with a point and must consider how other teams will now likely set up at Deepdale given Preston's unbeaten home run and lofty position in the table.
North End remain in the top six with the top three moving away slightly. Preston travel to Hull before a home game to Sunderland now managed by Simon Grayson.
