During the week, Doyle had spoken to the media about how the season had not turned out as planned and with less than 10 games remaining he could only show his best.
Effectively, Doyle is playing for his future. His season long loan has been poor to say the least but unsurprisingly as his time ends he has improved knowing that he needs to secure first team football somewhere next season as it is unlikely he will break back into the Cardiff starting line up.
Grayson kept Hughill up front with Robinson and Reach. Beckford made a surprise return to the bench after almost an entire season out of action. It was clear that he was nowheer near fully fit coming on for the final five minutes.
QPR took the lead early on as Preston conceded for the first time this season in the opening twenty minutes. It shocked everyone including the manner. The corner was whiped in and Polter headed home after roaming free in the box unmarked. It was uncharachteristic of a usually tight Preston defence.
Gamesmanship then came into the game at an early stage which was most likely impressed upon the visitors by their new boss. There was time wasting at every opportunity and searching for free kicks when there was nothing there.
The visitors sat back and whilst Preston huffed and puffed they were unable to break through. This has been the problem for Preston all season with a lack of quality to break down higher quality defences.
There were chances and with a bit more quality the score might have bene different but it was Chery for QPR who had the best opportunity in the game.
Chery was played clean through but his shot could only find the chest of Lindegaard who saved Preston. Moments earlier Chery was pulled down by Clarke when clean through although it was clear he had handled the ball. The referee who was poor all round missed both decisions.
The fourth official signalled six minutes of stoppage time which was mainly due to the visitors procrastination. There was a sting in the tail as Cunnigham whipped in a cross from the left for Doyle to head home.
The point mean Preston remain tenth above QPR in the table.
