North End picked up their fifth league draw in a row as they continued their recent unbeaten run against a strong Stoke side. Whilst the run has given stability there is some frustration over where the next three points will come from.
McAvoy has kept a fairly steady side with consistency in selection but they struggled in the opening twenty minutes against Stoke. Preston came under pressure with Iversen coming to Preston's rescue.
The visitors took the lead from a ball into the box. Powell evaded his marker and headed home from close range. Preston managed to keep the score down before they got a foothold in the game.
Just before the break North End equalised from a free kick. Whitemancurled in a free kick from just outside the box. It gave Preston some impetus in the game.
In the second half it was competitive but then strangely McAvoy replaced Maguire and Riis was left up front on his own. This gave Stoke all the momentum but fortunately they were unable to score.
Preston take another point and head to the capital for a tricky fixture at QPR.
