Everton looked to have the majority of play with Louis Saha showing some sharpness up front with only Andy Lonergan keeping the frontman out in the first half. Preston's brightest player going forward was probably the young Adam Barton.
THe deadlock was broken afer the break thanks to Beckford. Lonergan kicked out from a goal kick with a strong defensive header meaning the ball looped over Morgan and into the path of the unmarked Beckford who slotted past Lonergan.
Everton doubled their lead when Phil Neville played in to Saha who slotted home a good finish from his right foot from the edge of the box past an outstretched Lonergan.
Beckford then finished the scoring with a great volley after being left unmarked in the box he managed to expertly finish a left wing cross past Lonergan.
THis was always the toughest test for Preston in pre-season who now play Wrexham away on WEdnesday before travelling to OLdham for their finally friendly next Saturday.
