It seems that Gallagher has been a part of the Preston furniture. Loan deals followed by a permanent move create a mirage that he has been at the club for decades but he has been a mainstay of the side.
Gallagher has played in alomst every position on the park. Up front, out wide, central midfield and of course as an emergency keeper. In his later years he helped steady the ship as Preston moved back in the Championship by anchoring the midfield.
He will be fondly remembered by the Preston faithful. He was an experienced head who had played at a higher level. He brought players on whilst continuing to excel himself.
His set pieces will be missed including his unique style of penalty taking. He was an expert from a dead ball and this probably extended his career by a number of seasons.
Gallagher will now move full time into coaching where his expereince and intelligence will hopefully used to impact the current first team players. I can only wish him all the best for the next step in his career and thank him for the joy he has given to Preston fans throughout the years.
