It was thought that the deal was dead in the water after the season ended and nothing was agreed between the two clubs. Phil Brown has admitted that he would like to take Iain Turner to Preston after he failed to agree terms with Everton but would need to relieve Lonergan from the Preston wage bill first.
Everton may be lookingfor a back up to Tim Howard and Lonergan has beenn training with the Everton first team towards the back end of the season so the move would be well suited to both clubs. Wolves were also said to be interested but they have since signed a De Vries from Swansea.
