The chairman said that Ferguson was dismissed after a lengthy board meeting as they tried to give him as much time as possible. Overnight, the club have received twenty applications for the vacant position.
Lindsay did not rule anyone out of the race nor did he mention any names. He said the position has been advertised but they have not approached anyone in particular. He does not know how long the process will take but said that the club need someone with experience who can get them out of the relegation zone.
All fingers appear to point to unemployed, expereinced football men Gary Megson and Phil Brown although LIndsay said no time span would be put on the recruiting and David Unsworth has the caretaker rold until things are resolved.
