North End have confirmed that Woods has signed a deal which will keep him at the club until 2019. His current deal was set to expire next summer so he has secured an extra year.
Woods was out for all of 2016/17 after suffering knee ligament damage ina pre-season game. It was unclear how he would respond and Alex Neil has not rushed Woods through pre-season.
Neil pushed Woods into action last month against Birmingham and again on Saturday away at Fulham. It seems he is preferred over Vermijl and will now be pushing Fisher for the right back starting slot.
